Explore MEFiSTo-2D Plus
MEFiSTo-2D Plus is basically a two-dimensional version of MEFiSTo-3D Pro. Both simulators thus share essentially the same features. This is why we provide only a single demo program, MEFiSTo-3D Pro Demo, that allows you to explore both simulators in one.
If you are already familiar with MEFiSTo-2D v1.0 (now called MEFiSTo-2D Classic), you will be surprised by the many powerful features and advances realized in MEFiSTo-2D Plus. Here are the most important of them:
Low-Dispersion Simulation Engine
MEFiSTo-2D Plus features a highly accurate TLM engine based on the three-dimensional Generalized Symmetrical Condensed node (3D-GSCN). A single layer of 3D nodes is used to model 2D electromagnetic problems. While this may seem unnecessary and even wasteful at first glance (the 3D engine requires more computational resources and uses a 30% smaller time step than the 2D shunt and series nodes), it has the following important advantages:
- It has a much lower dispersion error than the 2D shunt node used in MEFiSTo-2D Classic;
- It models all six field components and thus eliminates the need for dual modeling;
- It allows simultaneous modeling of dielectric and magnetic constitutive parameters, including dielectric and magnetic losses.
- It models dispersive lossy and nonlinear superconductor boundaries over a wide frequency range (important for transient loss computations).
Multi-Threaded Architecture
Both MEFiSTo-2D Plus and -3D Pro employ a multi-threaded paradigm that takes advantage of multiple processors by automatically parallelizing the simulation tasks. This dramatically increases execution speed on multi-processor platforms.
SPICE-EM-bed Feature
Both MEFiSTo-2D Plus and -3D Pro contain the SPICE-EM-bed feature that allows real-time embedding of circuits and devices modeled by SPICE into the field space (TLM network).
Advanced User Interface
Major improvements in the user interface include
- multiple windows and multiple sources;
- extensive editing features, including Boolean operations;
- wire mesh, color map and color band visualization of fields and dissipated power;
- high quality graphics and data export capabilities,
- Frequency mapping for the modeling of E-plane waveguide components.
Upward Compatibility
MEFiSTo simulators are upward compatible. Hence, MEFiSTo-2D Plus and MEFiSTo-3D Pro can import files created with MEFiSTo-2D Classic. In turn, MEFiSTo-3D Pro can open and run files created with MEFiSTo-2D Plus.
